Would you like to get on stage for Voice Male in Beursschouwburg this fall?

RE/defining Masculinities is a festival on masculinity from a cross-cultural and intersectional perspective. Would you like to get on stage for Voice Male in Beursschouwburg this fall?

Authors, performers, stand-up artists and (slam) poets will share their vision on masculinity during Voice Male on the 27th of November in Beursschouwburg, Brussels.

 

The only restriction is time: each speaker gets 10 minutes. We give the stage to stand-up artist James Lórien McDonald, performer and musician Jaouad Alloul , activist Eric Niyibizi Cyuzuzo (Rainbow Nation Brussels), author & political scientist Gijs Hablous and visual artist and Trans* activist Jihan Imago.

Would you like to get on stage too and share your statement? We leave the last slot open for your contribution!

Send your text or performance suggestion before the 27th of October 2019 (max. 800 words or 10 minutes, in English) to debbie@deburen.eu. There is no restriction on genre. The best submission will get the slot and a fee of 250 euros.

Competition rules

 

The submission must be sent to debbie@deburen.eu in English and as a Word document. The deadline is on Sunday the 27th of October at 21:00. The jury members are: Jad Zeitouni (Emancipator and Flemish Youth Council), singer-songwriter Bryan Mugande, Mathieu Buyse (deBuren), Malin Bergstöm (Finnish Cultural Institute) and Tom Bonte (Beursschouwburg). You can also participate as part of a duo or group. We ask participants to keep the 27th of November free in their agenda. On Wednesday the 13th of November we will contact all participants on the result. The best submission will get the last slot during Voice Male and a fee of 250 euros. If you want to participate but you don´t feel comfortable on stage, we can arrange for someone else to bring your statement in your name. We will not give individual feedback.

 

 

Voice Male will take place on the 27th of November in Beursschouwburg in Brussels. It is part of the Festival RE/defining Masculinity. This festival is an initiative of the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux in collaboration with Beursschouwburg and deBuren.
