Ilay den Boer was born in Israel, but he has lived in The Netherlands since he was three years old. As of 2008 he is working as a dramatist on Het Beloofde Feest (The Promised Party), a series of six parts that is selected for the Theaterfestival 2010. Using personal and intimate family portraits, he searches for the significance of his motherland Israel. Den Boer talks about his experiences while making this series, about Jewish traditions and what it means to be Jewish in this day and age.
