The Netherlands celebrate the liberation from the German oppression on the 5th of May. In school we learn how that happened. But what about the independence of Morocco? Although sixty percent of people in cities like Antwerp or Rotterdam has foreign roots, that topic is hardly addressed. Should the history education take the multicultural society into account? Debate with Bruno De Wever (University of Ghent), Els Witte (VUB: University of Brussels), Carla van Boxtel (University of Amsterdam, Erasmus University) and Kees Ribbens (NIOD: Dutch Institute for War Documentation).
