the Dutch Embassy - Connie Palmen Archive

The books

Tuesday 2 October 2007 - 20.00 > 21.30

Dutch Embassy, Herrmann Debrouxlaan 48, 1160 Brussel

The Dutch Embassy in Brussels is one of deBuren's most loyal allies. We are very much in favour of Flanders and the Netherlands getting to know one another better in our common context of Europe. Our common language is a logical, but not exclusive, role here.

Although the Embassy and deBuren each hold their own literary events, we are partners when it comes to debates, lectures and seminars.

On Tuesday 2nd October Connie Palmen will give a talk. This year she published her latest book, Lucifer, a remarkable novel based on the life of the Dutch composer Peter Schat and his wife, the actress Marina Schapers. She died after falling off a rock in Greece; it has been suggested however that she was drunk and lost her balance. In Lucifer, Palmen develops this fictitious, but serious, suspicion. Indeed the book is full of doubts, philosophical musings and great oneliners. deBuren is only too happy to advise you of an encounter with this philosopher and author, whose works include De wetten and De vriendschap .
