Is Brussels allowed to spend more while all member states are economising? The answer is YES according to the Commission and the Parliament, because we have a lot of extra assignments, and every euro spent on a European level has a higher return than a euro spent on a national level. The answer is NO, according to The Netherlands, France, Germany and the UK, because if we have to economise, than Europe should do the same. A debate about the ‘multi-billion dance' of the European long-range budget (2013-2020) upon which the Commission, Parliament and Member States have to agree before the end of 2012.
