Debates

Sunday 19 October 2008 - 12.00 > 19.00

deBuren, Leopoldstraat 6, 1000 Brussels

The art biennial has a past as an interesting political instrument to defend a nation-state ideology. In times of globalization and the decrease of the importance of national politics, the art event became more and more a favorite opportunity for citymarketing. At the same time a booming group of biennials puts the political on its artistic agenda. Is this only a way of window-dressing? Or can biennials really develop an alternative political voice in these neo-political times?
