In the spring of 2007, deBuren started its Stille Boeken series, based on the idea that many good books unfortunately go unnoticed by the press and the public. Some books receive a lot of attention irrespective of their quality and there are books that get no attention at all in spite of their quality. Some books do well in the Netherlands but appear to be almost non-existent in Flanders, and vice versa.
Research has shown that newcomers who do not sell well often do not get a second chance - irrespective of whether their debut was of high quality. Unfortunately these books and their authors disappear into the silence of the private library or into a dusty bargain basement.
Until now! With its Stille Boeken series deBuren turns the spotlight on books that have remained conspicuously inconspicuous, but which nevertheless deserve to be discovered and read. Stille Boeken are moments of reflection, spent with authors and other guests, in which the host Jos Geysels presents books that are more quietly spoken than others.
