16% of the EU population lives below the poverty line. High time for Het Europees jaar van de bestrijding van armoede en sociale uitsluiting (European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion). deBuren organises a debate regarding the value and necessity of this issue on a European scale. Prof. Dr. Jan Vranken (UA) will provide a polemic kick-off, whereupon European Parliamentarian Marije Cornelissen (GroenLinks), Wing Commander Dr. Ine Voorham (president of Salvation Army Netherlands) and Marc van de Looverbosch (VRT) will join the debate.
