In the spring of 2010, deBuren asked Dutch photographer Martijn van de Griendt to make a photo coverage of Ostend in the framework of the citybooks. Martijn had already made several photo books about street culture and teenagers and he enthusiastically accepted the invitation. He exposed the soul of Ostend in a number of polaroids, with special thought for the unexpected, for that which cannot be staged. Vrijstaat O. shows the small exhibition in their newly opened exhibition space.
