Debates

Monday 19 January 2009 - 15.00 > 21.00

deBuren, Leopoldstraat 6, 1000 Brussels

What will be the state of the performing arts in the latest subsidy period, 2010-2013? On 1 October, the Flemish theatre companies submitted their dossiers in the framework of the Arts decree. In the run up to whatever is decided, the Vlaams Theater Instituut, De Brakke Grond en rekto:verso compare the Flemish situation with that in Holland and consider the possibilities of commercial avenues for the subsidised performing arts.

3.00 - 6.00 p.m. Looking beyond the decisions (Holland + Flanders)

Following the reforms in the Dutch theatre world, decisions have also recently taken concerning the attribution of subsidies for the period 2009-2012. Can we learn anything from the decisions taken in Holland? What are their consequences in the Dutch performing arts landscape? The panel will comprise, among others, Jan Zoet (Rotterdamse Schouwburg), Guy Cassiers (Toneelhuis), Cis Van Helmond and Dorine Cremers (Generale Oost Theaterwerkplaats Arnhem, to be confirmed).

In collaboration with the Flemish Theatre Institute and De Brakke Grond
