Janus Magazine is an English-language periodical with Dutch translation that explores the zone between art, culture, philosophy and science. The magazine disappeared from the scene for a while after Jan Fabre, who founded the magazine in 1988, decided to discontinue the publication in 2005. In April 2006, Charlotte Bonduel, Luigi di Corato, Giovanni Iovane, Frank Maes, Nicola Setari and Marleen Wynants took up the challenge of continuing the project and putting together a new editorial team.
A debate to mark the publication of the 23rd edition of Janus with, amongst others, Frank Maes (curator at SMAK) and Tobias Kokkelmans, dramaturge at the RO Theater in Rotterdam, about the disappearance of the boundaries between museum and theatre. Visual arts and theatre are growing ever closer to one another. Visual art is becoming increasingly theatrical and theatre is becoming more and more visual. Text and image were once central to their disciplines, but not anymore.
