Journalist Dejan Anastasijevic (Time) welcomes two authors for a discussion about the culture of Europe and the Balkans. Radoslav Petkovic made his debut in 1979 with his yet to be translated novel Put u Dvigrad (the road to Dvigrad). A part of his oeuvre is translated into French. Antonije Zalica is an author and filmmaker. He studied comparative literature and philosophy. In December 1993 he left Sarajevo, his place of birth, and currently he lives in Amsterdam.
The Balkans & Europe
In this fourth encounter of the series The Balkans & Europe the host Dejan Anastasijevic welcomes once more two authors for a conversation about the cultural climate of the Balkans and the post-Yugoslavian era.
Radoslav Petkovic (Belgrado, °1953) published several novels and won a number of prestigious literary awards in his homeland. Part of his oeuvre is translated into French. He translated work of, amongst others, Tolkien, Defoe and Stevenson from English into Serbian. His stories were included in several anthologies, in Serbia and abroad.
Antonije Zalica (Sarajevo, °1959) studied comparative literature and philosophy. He writes stories, poems and plays and made a number of short films for which he received the Felix Award (currently the European Film Award) of the European Film Academy in 1994. In December 1993 he left Sarajevo and currently lives in Amsterdam. His book Gele sneeuw (Yellow snow) appeared in 2001 in Dutch and was also published in Polish and German. His most recent book Bandiera Rossa was published in Bosnia in 2007.
