Inge Liesbeth Alfonsina Heremans' initials form the word ILAH, the name of the slave and mistress in the well-known Flemish comic strip. She studied philosophy in Leuven and for more than ten years now has drawn life as seen by her closest friend, Cordelia. Her comic strips, in which Cordelia constantly questions herself and her small world are entitled Het vieste van Ilah, Cordelia kan ze kussen, Cordelia oraal, Cordelia komt overal, Cordelia haar goesting and lastly Cordelia klopt hart. In 'Stel u voor', deBuren is exhibiting fifty drawings of the genesis of ILAH. We see how a pencil drawing acquires a definite outline and colour. Inge Heremans is the graphic successor to Nicole Van Goethem, the grande dame of animation film, who died in 1996.
