Homo Universalis: Jean-Pascal van Ypersele Archive

Encounters

Tuesday 19 February 2008 - 20.00 > 21.30

deBuren, Leopoldstraat 6, 1000 Brussels

Attention! The encounter will take place on Tuesday, February 19 at 20h.

In 2008 we plan to start our series of encounters with scientists with a first: the Nobel Prize-winner Prof. Jean-Pascal van Ypersele, physicist, climatologist and professor at UCL. In 2002 he was elected member of the IPCC ((Intergovernemental Panel on Climate Change). He describes this UN organization as 'the doctor who analyses the health of the planet and prescribes treatment'. His main concern is the harm being done to the climate: 'there is no doubt that climate changes pose an enormous threat, however, more than anything, they are a symptom of more fundamental problems'.
