In recent years, the debate about religion and morality has again become a very topical issue. For example, the question of linking religion and morality arises in some forms of religious fundamentalism in which conceptions of standards and values are shaped by a fanatical pursuit of religion even when it leads to morally objectionable actions.
How are religion and morality related? It is often supposed that religion and morality are linked together or that religion is the source of morality. Does morality actually emanate from religion or does it have its own origin? Is it a problem when religion and morality are connected? Can standards and values be self-evidently derived from religion? deBuren is organising a debate on these questions chaired by Joël De Ceulaer.
