HETPALEIS, Theaterplein, 2000 Antwerp
Gert Oostindie (KITLV / Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies and the University of Leiden), author of Postkoloniaal Nederland (The Postcolonial Netherlands) explains why Belgium deals differently with the Congolese colonial past than The Netherlands does with its colonial history in Surinam, the Antilles and Indonesia. He also makes an interesting comparison between the (post)colonial immigration in Belgium and The Netherlands that is related to this past.
