On Monday 6th June deBuren in cooperation with the team Vlaams Bouwmeester presents the seminar 'Bouwmeesters are seeking quality for Europe'. Prominent government architects and others will debate about the role and significance of the Government Architect at a regional, trans-national and European level.
deBuren presents, in cooperation with the team Vlaams Bouwmeester, the seminar: 'Bouwmeesters' are seeking quality for Europe'. Marcel Smets (Architect of te Flemish Government), bOb Van Reeth (former Architect of the Flemish Government), Mels Crouwel (Architect of the Dutch Government), Kees Rijnboutt (former Architect of the Dutch Government), Rob Steenhuis (Railway Architect of the Dutch Government), Pier Vittorio Aureli (Professor at the Berlage Institute), István Schneller (Chief Architect, Budapest council Municipality) will debate the role and significance of the Government Architect at a regional, trans-national and European level.
Eric Corijn tells us his urban vision for Brussels and young researchers from the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam present their study entitled Brussels, capital of Europe. What sort of impact can such theoretical studies have? How does the new Europe see these metropolitan and spatial issues? How does one unite regionalisation and Europeanisation?
The seminar will be chaired by Rob Docter (Director of the Berlage Institute). Jan De Zutter chairs the debates and summarises them for us in translation.
Geert Bourgeois, Flemish Minister of Administration, Foreign Policy, Media and Tourism will close the seminar.
