Debates

Wednesday 17 June 2009 - 20:15 - 21:45

Flagey | Studio 1, Heilig Kruisplein, 1050 Brussel

Joost Smiers is a political scientist. He is researching what the consequences of economic globalisation will have on the world of art. He is internationally known as an advocate for the abolition of copyright, something he sees as a danger for cultural diversity. Together with Marieke van Schijndel, he wrote a book in which he elaborated further on his views. On the occasion of the book's publication, Joost Smiers will be debating his ideas with, among others, with Paul De Hert, chairman of the Human Rights study group at the VUB and professor at the Institute of Law and Technology at the University of Tilburg, Gust De Meyer, Wendy Van Wynsberghe and Katrien van der Perre.
