Two cities, two photographers. Brussels and Berlin, Friederike von Rauch and Stefan Wolf Lucks. One story: that of two artists who leave their familiar surroundings for a while to get a different outlook.Stefan Wolf Lucks and Friederike von Rauch are two Berlin photographers who came to deBuren with a proposal. After years of working in the capital of Germany, they wanted to train their cameras on the capital of Europe. A three-month residence in the heart of Brussels would yield a series of pictures. Perhaps a portrait, perhaps an impression.
Using the same method as in Berlin, Friederike von Rauch traversed Brussels in search of places that many people pass by without noticing. She focused on the beauty of emptiness, demonstrating that photographs can be works of poetry.Stefan Wolf Lucks seeks the anecdote, the encounter that never becomes a confrontation. Brussels was such an inspiration for him that he has struck out on a new course as a photographer.
From Berlin to Brussels, from the familiar to what was initially unknown but is now deeply loved: each in their own way, Friederike von Rauch and Stefan Wolf Lucks show us a different side of Brussels.
